Taking prescription medicines to India by foreign tourist visiting India

Question:  I am trying to find out what restrictions there are on bringing personal medications into India. Could you please help with this. John eagle Answer: As long as you have a doctor’s prescription, carry the medication in original containers as dispensed and labeled by your pharmacy where you purchased the medicines you should be fine. The quantity of medicine should also be in proportion of your intended stay in India. I know friends who have traveled to India for six month visits and taken prescription medicines for the six month period without any problems. Hope this helps. Have a great visit.

Foreign tourist visiting Goa - Buy Sim Card in India for long term use

Question:  Am visiting Goa in November 2017 and will be there until after Christmas can i buy a Sim card for my phone that will not expire, I go back to India quite often for holidays around Christmas new year time. Answer: Tourists who get Sim cards in India generally have a validity of around six months or the validity of their visa. There may be some tourists who during their visit to India get local residents to get them a Sim card without restrictions. All this is going to change soon. I believe from February 2018 all Indian Sim cards will have to be linked to a Aadhaar card. As tourists cannot get Aadhaar cards they will not be able to get a long term Sim. Many Indian residents will also have their Sims deactivated if they do not link their Sim to Aadhaar by the deadline set by the authorities.
