Currency exchange in India by tourist from Sweden. Can Swedish currency be easily exchanged in India?

Question:  Hi, I am not very comfortable to rely on cards and ATMs while travelling. The can be ”eaten” by the machine. Is it possible to change bills of not so well-known currencies like Swedish crowns (my currency) into rupies? I mean  in ordinary exchange offices in big cities like Chennai or Kolkata? Thanks for advice, Regards, Gent Gustafsson, Sweden Answer: While you may be able to exchange Swedish currency in India at some selected places you may have to spend time trying to find such places and then settle for an exchange rate that may not reflect the true value of your currency. The most common exchange currencies used by tourists in India are the US dollar, British pound or the Euro. However the most commonly exchanged currency in India is the US dollar. The advantage of US dollars is that many shops in major cities will gladly accept dollars whereas for other currencies tourists must go to bank or find a currency exchange outlet like Thomas Cook. Hope this helps. Thank you for visiting Travel India Smart. Have a great visit.
